Renew Your License

Your Ham license is good for 10 years.
You cannot renew it until a three-month window just before it expires. There is a period of two years after the
license expires that you can renew it without penalty. After this period you will have to take the exam (s) over.

Now let's move on to renewing your license

The FCC maintains two different databases for
Amateur Radio Operators.

The first deals with your Account, and it is called
CORES.
Commission Registration Syatem
You get to it with
https://apps.fcc.gov/cores/userLogin.do

The second is the

ULS, Universal Licensing System
which deals with your actual license,
and you get to it by going to
https://www.fcc.gov/wireless/universal-licensing-system

At this point you know your
FRN Number and Expiration date

Now let's get to work on renewing your license

To do this you will need the User Name and Password you used Ten Years Ago.
Your User Name is the email address you entered way back then ... as if you still have had the same email all this time.
And
You need the password you used to set up the account back then.

If you have this information, proceed to
the next step or so below.

Let's suppose you changed emails several times in the last ten years, and you forgot the password you set up back then.

If you forgot either your User Name (email) or password, it is time to call FCC Tech Support, otherwise proceed below.

Go To:
